The authors have studied the influence of artificial substrata on Picea omorika P a n č. seedlings, grown in Dunemann-beds in the nursery ,,Kaluđerske Bare", on the mountain of Tara (western Serbia), at the sea level of 1000 m. The artificial supstrata consisted of different volume mixtures of humus from beech and spruce forests, soil and inorganic component - sand. The best quality seedlings (2 + 0) were obtained on the substratum which consisted of nursery soil, with addition of fertilizers during vegetation period, providing in that way the most suitable pH value when compared with other substrata. The second place took the plants grown on the substratum consisting of humus from beech forest (60%) , nursery soil (10%) and sand (30%). The increase of pH values of the substrata of variants to an extent of 5.2- - 7 .2 has provoked a linear depression of mean values of the analyzed plant characteristics. The corresponding negative correlation link in the majority of cases is very strong.
