Persian walnut (Juglans regia L.) is a very important and perspective forest and fruit tree. In intensive walnut plantations it is often necessary to correlate some tending measures as well as some ecological, phyisiological-biochemical, genetical and other observations with leaf area of plants, without leaf removal from the crowns. Some authors suggest to do such evaluations by applying regressions (linear, second degree, multiple) or by using some of coefficient methods. In this investigations it was studied whether the coefficent obtaineg from the relation of leaflet area of prinnate leaf of walnut and the area of the rectangle which sides correspond to the length and the largest width of the leaflet may be suitable for evaluationn of leaf area of Persian walnut in field conditions. The analysis of data obtained by measuring dimensions and areas of 462 lieflets from 56 pinnate leaves taken on 56 walnut grafts nine- year old (8 mother trees x 7 vegetative copies x 1 leaf) has shown that this method is suitable and enough exact. The mean relative deviation of measured and calculated leaf areas for the whole experiment, especially per one vegetative copy or per one leaf was 2.21%. The applied method is simple and easy for work. The wanted area (P) of one leaflet is obtained by multiplying its dimensions and coefficient K. Far a group of leaflets the area (P) is obtained by multiplying the sum of their lengths (∑A), their mean wndth (B) and reduction coefficient (K): P = (∑A) · B : K.
