Opis (eng)

Afforestation of sands sandy soils is a very difficult job. Complex »Gorica« on the Sand of Ram-Golubac is covered with sand and sandy substrates of very unsuitable pedo-ecological properties. In order to make an appropriate choice of species and technology of afforestation, analysis of bioecological conditions was made and a set of experiments was placed in 1978, by using plants with protected and bare root systems. On the basis of a detailed analysis of these experiments, the following conclusions can be drawn out: The sites of the complex »Gorica« are xerotherme and pedo-ecological conditions unsuitable (light mecanical structure of soil with small content of humus and lack of nutritive elements). The best conditions gives black sand, then yellow one and as the most unsuitable white sand. Planting of Pinus nigra seedlings with bare roots has not succeeded - on the best site of black sand survival of seedling was only 7%. On the other hand planting of seedlings with protected root system (containerized plants) was very successful. On black sand survival of Pinus nigra seedlings was 89%, Pinus silvestris 79%, Pinus ponderosa 87% and Larix europea 75%. On yellow sand, which is ecologicaly less suitable, the success of palnting was a little poorer, but still satisfying. Survival of Pinus nigra seedlings was 75% and Pinus silvestris 70%.
