The effects of planting techniques on the survival of white pine seedlings have been studied on a shallow and skeletal soils on serpentine ona warm southwestern side. The analyse of climatic conditions duning the experiment has shown that in 1988 the disposition of precipitaton was extremely unfavourable. The best results (10 to 15 times more seedlings than in control group) were obtained by planting in deep holes (60x40x50 cm) where the apex of the seedling was about 15 cm under the level of surrounding soil and by mulching with plastic sheets afterwards.
