In the experiment were analyzed the plants of serbian spruce (Picea omorica P a n č.) produced in Dunemann's seed-beds in two forest nurseries, on the sea levels of 1100 and 2500 m. The basic component of the substratum was russian peat. The plants from the higher sea level were 2 + 1 old, and from the lower sea level 2 + 0. The seedlings from the lower sea level, compared with those from 1100 m of altitude, had higher mean values of the overground part (total height), except for diameter. On the contrary, the seedlings from the higher altitude had higher mean values of the indicators of the underground part of the plant The authors have concluded that in favorable ecological conditions, on the above mentioned substratum, it was posible to produce in two vegetation periods high-quality seedling stock of Picea omorica.
