On the mountain of Jastrebac, on schist parent rock, an experiment was laid out with two black pine provenances - from lime-stone and serpentine - with the objective to prove if the parent rock on which they are planted, which is different from the oniginal one, has any influence on plant survival and their later growth and development. On the basis of this experiment it was concluded that the percentage of survival, one year after planting, was very good for both provenances, but after the third vegetation period the survival of the lime-stone provenance was about 10% higher than in the case of serpentine provenance. Also, the measurements of heights and diameters of four-year old plants have shown significant differences in favour of the lime-stone provenance plants.
