Thining fellings have to be done in young stands in order to carry out necessary silvicultural opperations. At the same time the lack of mechanization becomes more actual. In the article an attempt was made to estimate the economy of these fellings in natural stands of beech and spruce. Felling of trees was made by two workers with a motorsaw. Time of felling and stemwood manufacture, expressed in minutes, were calculated per m3 , per tree and per ha. Also fuel and lubriicant consumption were calculated for motorsaw Husquarna 380, which was used for felling. Skidding of stemwood from :the stump to the upper landing was made with one horse-drawn vehicle, driven by one coachman. The effects of this work are given for different transportation distances.
