Апстракт: Правни поредак Црквеног уређења исказан канонски одредбама помесних и Васељенских Сабора, регулисао је забрану бављења световним пословима црквеном клиру. Питање ове забране и његове дубоке укорењености унутар самог клира биће предмет овог рада.

At the very beginning of the canonical structure of the Church, the internal order and structure of the church organization makes a difference between church and secular authority. The rules of the Church strictly forbid their clergy to engage in worldly affairs that are contrary to the priestly vocation. Acquisition of material benefits, giving guarantees in secular affairs, court, trade and others, the Church explicitly forbids under the threat of overthrow from the priestly rank and harmonizes their priestly-liturgical right with council decisions. In medieval Serbia, clerical - secular work was performed by priests primarily because of their education and reputation they had in society, and therefore it is understandable that they mediate and assist administrative state services.
