In this work attention has been paid to the method of growing trees from one diameter degree to another while defining the volume increment, the aim being to prove its exactness and efficacy. Comparative investigations were made with other methods which are mostly used in our practice - Mayer-Leach method, control method, Hoofnagel's method variant I. Investigations were performed at mountain Golija, i. e. in the region called Biser-Voda. Beech compositions with virgin forest characteristics were treated and the following results were reached: 1. It was stated that the percentage line of overgrowing of trees from one diameter degree to another in experimental plots I and II is paraboloid, while in experimental plot III it gradually rises from the lowest to the highest diameter degrees. In experimental plots I and II overgrowing of the trees is highest with the diameter degrees between 50 and 95 cm. In experimental plot III overgrowing goes gradually towards the highest diameter degrees. 2. Investigations by Bukumirović show that the diameter increment, determined by increment core, is always smaller than the real one. If the diameter increment is determined by help of increment core and applied in the method of overgrowing of trees from one degree to another, it is vry likely that the reached results will be quite close to the results reached with control method. 3. With the percentage method the volume increment is higher than with control method about 7% on the average. All these statements indicate that the method of overgrowing of trees from one diameter degree to another show satisfying accuracy in determination of volume increment.
