Incense cedar is a North-american species, which is, because of its valuable )biological, economic and aestetic qualities, more and more planted not only in the parks and gardens, but also in forest plantations. Institute of Forestry and Wood lndustriy in Beograd has started the production of incense cedar seedlings in 1954. The oldest plantations of incense cedar were founded in 1956. in the vicinity of Beograd, but later on they were planted in many places in Serbia, especially after 1970. when Yugoslav emigrants began to send seeds of North-american species, including incense cedar seeds as well. In four plantations, first founded by the Institute, which in the age of 30 years have stated to fructificate, the measurements of heights and diameters were done, as well as the estimation of the most important phenotypic characteristics and helth state of the trees in the plantations. It was concluded on that occasion that the examined plantations could be used as seed sources for further reproduction of this species in similar site conditions.
