CHEMICAL CHANGES OF SPRUCE AND SCOTS PINE WOOD, NATURALLY AND ARTIFICIALLY INFECTED BY FOMES ANNOSUS
Popović, Jelica
The changes in content of the basic wood components - cellulose and lignin, were studied in naturally and artificially infected spruce and Scots pine wood. For lignin determination method of Komarov was used and for cellulose determination Kurschner-Hoffer's method. The maximum destruction of lignin and cellulose in naturally affected spruce and Scots pine wood was found in the samples which were in the last phase of decay. In artificially infected spruce and Scots pine wood the isolates Fa1 and Fa2 of the fungus Fames annosus have caused stronger destruction of lignin than of cellulose. The isolate Fa1 had a stronger influence on basic component changes in Scots pine wood than in spruce wood. On the contrary the isolate Fa2 caused in spruce wood stronger destruction of the components than in Scots pine wood.
