Martyrdom as a Christian feat above feats and the holy Serbian new martyrs

Сажетак: У раду се одређује феномен мучеништва у хришћанству и указује на страдање свештеномученика Саве Горњокарловачког, који је духов- ни покровитељ Универзитета Привредна академија у Новом Саду. Затим се у неколико карактеристичних момената прави паралела између хришћанских мученика у раној Цркви и српских православних хришћана новомученика. По- себно ће бити истакнуто страдање деце, жртава геноцида у Независној држави Хрватској. На крају, као специфично српски проблем, анализира се стално по- зивање на опраштање за српске жртве, чиме се излази изван граница хришћан- ског поимања праштања. Рад има за циљ да укаже на значај светих српских новомученика за српски народ.
Abstract: The paper defines the phenomenon of martyrdom in Christianity and points to the suffering of the priest-martyr Sava Gornjokarlovački, who is the spiritual patron of the University Business Academy in Novi Sad. Then, in several characteristic moments, a parallel is drawn between the Christian martyrs in the early Church and the Serbian Orthodox Christians of the new martyrs. The suffering of children, victims of genocide in the Independent State of Croatia, will be highlighted in particular. Finally, as a specifically Serbian problem, the constant call for forgiveness for Serbian victims is analyzed, which goes beyond the limits of the Christian understanding of forgiveness. The aim of the work is to point out the importance of the holy Serbian new martyrs for the Serbian people.
