On more than 600 hectars of unproductive soils, created after open-pit mining in REIK ,, Kolubara", biological recultivation was done by afforestation with different broadleaved and coniferous forest tree species.Depending on kind and quality of the substrata, plants of Pinus nigra and Larix europea of coniferous species were recommended for afforestation, while of broadleaved trees the following species: Quercus robur, Quercus rubra, Acer pseudoplatanus, Betula verrucosa, Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus excelsior. Application of other domestic and allochtonous tree species will demand some additional investigations concerning the kind of the substrata and work technologies.
