The forests of Topčidersko Brdo (sea level 209 m) were for several decades protected, when compared with the greater part of forest vegetation of Šumadija. This has enabled natural regeneration of the mixed forest vegetation, which was present in the past in Šumadija, when the antropologic factor was less expressed. Some isolated mixed forests, composed of a greater number of oaks (Polyquerce; tum pubescenti prov., Polyquerceto.Tilietum tomentosae prov.) are of special importance for both science and praxis taking into consideratnon the possibility of application of the historical principle and criterion while analyzing (M i š i ć, 1982. and 1984). but also the possibilities of natural regeneration of mixed forest types in Šumadija, in protected conditions.
