A new biological preparation, growth regulator and its biological value in controlling insects - forest defoliators was studied. The preparation was investigated under the name CME 13406 SC 15. Its action on the insects is hormonal, preventing sinthesis of the chitine. At the same time it is highly selective, destroying only insects defoliators. In he treated bradleaved forests of oak, hornbeam, beech, lime-tree, ash and maple the insects of the following families were controlled: Geometridae, Lasiocampidae, Noctuidae, Notodontidae, Thaumatopoeidae and Tortricidae. The insects belonging to these families were in gradation, especially the species of the families Geometrzdae, Noctuidae and Tortricidae, which were dominant. On the basis of the obtained results, which have shown that the preparation was very effective and selective, the author has recommanded the preparation for practical use.
