U radu se na osnovu arhivske građe, uglavnom pohranjene u Istorijskom arhivu Niša, kao i adekvatne literature, obrađuje delovanje društva Cr- venog krsta na teritoriji Moravske banovine. Rad ovog društva je bio usmeren na prikupljanje novčanih i materijalnih sredstava, organizovanje bolnica, kao i na obukudobrovoljnihbolničarki.Detaljnojepredstavljenbilansprihodairashoda banovinskogodbora,kaoi angažovanje nakursevimazaobuku.

The basic tasks of the Red Cross Society were related to action in wartime con- ditions.However,inpeacetime,thisorganizationrepresentedanauxiliarybodyofmi- litaryandcivilianhealthauthorities,soitfocuseditsactivitiesonprovidingassistance tosick,neglectedchildren,aswellasthosethreatenedbynaturaldisasters.Thefor- medMoravaBanovinaCommitteemanagedtheorganizationofcountyandmunicipal committeesandtheacquisitionofcitizensformembership.Thefinancingofthebano- vinaboardisorganizedfromvarioussources,primarilymembershipfees.Itisnotun- commonforlargeinvestmentstorequirehelpfromlocalinstitutions,butalsofrom theCentralBoard,whichisotherwiseresponsibleforallocatingcertainfundstomuni- cipalities. One of the more important activities of the Banovina Committee was the training, in cooperation with the military authorities and local health institutions, of volunteer paramedics, who, in case of war, would be helpful withtheir basic knowled- ge of medicine. The data show a much higher response among women, for whom the- se courses also determined their professional orientation.
