Davidia involucrata B a i l l., which belongs to the family Nyssaceae originates from the south-eastern region of China. It was introduced in Europe in 1904 and yet in 1943. a few specimens which were planted in Paris have begun to blossom and to fructificate. In Yugoslavia this species was registered and described in Zagreb and in the course of 1984. one specimen in good condition was noticed and completely analyzed in Beograd. Because of many qualities, especially vitality, decorative aspect during the whole year, resistance to low temperatures, injurious gases and other unsu itable factors in urban areas, it deserves our attention and can be recommended for mass use in horticultural practice.
