he so-called Jerusalem room is part of the he Hajji Spasic house in Velika Hoča, 20 km north of Prizren. This house was built between 1830 and 1835 and it is protected as a cultural monument. When its owner Sima Nedeljkovic and his sons returned from their pilgrimage to Holy Land in 1865, this house was renovated. In order to place and properly keep their Palestinian eulogies, they made special room in their home, which is now known as the Jerusalem room. In one of its corners, there is a custom-made construction, a kind of home iconostasis (ikonlak) which still keeps icons and different religious objects, and represents the sacred center for the family. The ikonlak construction was made to fit the monumental proskynetaria known as Jerusalem icon, which has a donor’s inscription as well as a name of the painter Sava. He, or other painter from his workshop also painted the family icon of the Ascension of Christ. Besides, Hajji Spasic family, that descends from Hajji Sima’s soon Spasa, still keeps other hajji’s memorabilia, such as the carved icon of St. Joachim and Anna from a Bethlehem workshop. Hajji Sima also brought several candles of various shapes, because it was the custom to buy candles in bundles during the Holy Week and then light them in the Holy Fire. He brought several objects made of natural materials, such as a wooden crucifix which consists of of three crosses and it’s decorated with engraved mother-of-pearl tiles; a shell with engraved image of Saint Nicholas; two stones with carved scenes of the Nativity and Baptism of Christ and a crown of thorns. From Jerusalem Hajji Sima also brought the Patriarchal indulgence issued by Patriarch Cyril in 1859. The Jerusalem room treasures one hand-written paper roll with apocryphal Dream of the Virgin, the rules of righteous piety, and the prayer of St. Sisoes written in acronyms. It was used as an amulet in cases of female infertility, as a belt for barren women. There is also one silver cresset from the Decani monastery with inscribed name Spasa and one icon of the Last Supper printed in Kyiv in 1898.
