Summary: Violence against the elderly is complex, starting from the fact that it is difficult to determine the limit when the age begins. The legal framework de lege lata provides enough opportunities to address violence against the elderly concretely in its solution, but victimization of the elderly today phenomenologically has extremely colorful forms of execution, from abuse and neglect to violence related to modern society and / or technological innovation., which requires constant work and training of all participants in protection. Decision-makers are required to de lege ferenda first determine the actual prevalence of this phenomenon from intra-family relations and the resistance of the elderly to report violence, to victimization in social care institutions and even peer violence among the elderly. Media writing and reporting has a significant role in creating awareness and forming a system of protection of the elderly from violence, as a significant part of preventive work, along with professional and expert reporting. Reduction of violence against the elderly is possible only in the synergy of all subjects of protection and individuals, through a complete system of action, where the solution is not in sanctions, but in preventive work and education
Сажетак: Насиље над старијима је вишеструко сложено – почевши од питања када почиње старост. Законски оквир de lege lata даје довољно могућности да се према насиљu над старијима можемо поставити конкретно у његовом решавању, али виктимизација старијих данас феноменолошки има изузетно колоритне облике извршења, од злостављања и занемаривања, па до насиља у вези са савременим друштвом и/или технолошким иновацијама, што захтева сталан рад и усавршавање свих учесника у заштити. Од доносилаца одлука се захтева да се de lege ferenda морају прво утврдити стварне преваленције ове појаве од унутарпородичних релација и отпора старијих да пријаве насиље, до виктимизације у установама социјалне заштите па и вршњачког насиља међу старијима. Писање и извештавање медија има значајну улогу у стварању свести и формирању система заштите старијих од наси- ља, као значајан део превентивног рада, уз професионално и стручно извештавање. Редукција насиља над старијима могућа је само у синергији свих субјеката заштите и појединаца, кроз заокружени систем деловања, где решење није у санкционисању, већ у превентивном раду и едукацији.
