To leave behind a trace: a palimpsest of Milisav Savić’s travelogue prose

Summary: The relationship between fiction and the so-called reality occupies an important place in the work of contemporary Serbian writer Milisav Savić. In the previous period that topic has developed some new forms. Namely, in his travelogue books published in the period 2004–2022, the main focus is on Serbian cultural and historical heritage. The results of such a writer’s interest are intermediate books with a strong documentary layer: Raška, in the Valley of the Serbian Kings (2004), The Valley of Serbian Kings (2014), Epic Serbia (2017), and Terra Rascia (2022), as well as a book of edited old travelogues Studenica i ibarska dolina [Studenica and the Ibar Valley, 2019]. Great attention in these books is devoted to monasteries and churches, as well as the Kosovo legend/myth as the base of national and cultural identity. In the paper, this metafictional opus was interpreted through a postmodern palimpsest technique.
Апстракт: Однос фикције и стварности заузима значајно место у стваралаштву савременог књижевника Милисава Савића. Та тема је у претходном периоду добила неке нове облике. У претходне две деценије Савић је, наиме, објавио више путописних књига у чијем је средишту српско средњовековно наслеђе. Резултати таквог пишчевог интересовања чине интермедијална дела наглашене документарности: Рашка, у долини српских краљева (2004), Долина српских краљева (2014), Епска Србија (2017) и Terra Rascia (2022), као и књига приређених старих путописа Студеница и ибарска долина (2019). Велика пажња у овим књигама посвећена је манастирима и црквама, као и косовској легенди/миту као окосници националног и културног идентитета. У раду се овај у основи метафикционални опус тумачи кроз призму постмодерног поступка – палимпсеста.
