Апстракт: Полазећи од чињенице да се у поезији може говорити и о дијалектици и о дихотомији ватре, у раду је најпре реч о односу песника и пламена, то јест о песничкој имагинацији чија је природа блиска пламену, а потом се у примењеној равни истраживања, на корпусу изабране поезије три велика српска песника двадесетог века – Бранка Миљковића, Милована Данојлића и Слободана Ракитића – тумачи симбол ватре, који је у средишту њиховог поетског света. Избор поезије ових песника условљен је, између осталог, и тиме што је преко њихових песама могуће разликовати три лица ватре, односно најмање три различита значења која она имају за њих. Заједнички (поетички) именитељ свима њима односи се на креацију, односно имагинациију (башларовски схваћеног) пламена, као песничког напора да се дође до суштине или „корена бића“ („бивствовање у правцу суштине“), „стубова васељене“, односно такозваног Прометејевог комплекса, као израза чежње и страсти за сазнањем.

Summary: As a poetic symbol largely present in literature, this paper is about fire as a poetic principle in the contemporary Serbian poetry, with special reference to the poetic corpus of three prominent poets of the 20th century: Branko Miljković, Milovan Danojlić, and Slobodan Rakitić, through whose poems it is possible to distinguish between three faces of fire, that is, three different phenomenological and poetic meanings. For the Heraclitean-oriented Miljković, fire is the main archetypal symbol, the primal element of creation, the sum of his philosophical views on humankind and the world, an eternally living fire in which ancient and national myths and legends are dialectically sublimated, but it is also an expression of the reconciliation of the opposites of poetic and transcendental (metaphysical) spheres, such as: fire and ash, being and nothingness, life and death, from which comes his poetic apotheosis – „Pohvala vatri“. For his somewhat neo-symbolist companion Milovan Danojlić, fire is related to collective representations and opinions, but it is also an expression of a particular poetic process and personal poetic pattern, entitled „Razgorevanje vatre“. The corpus of research will also include the poetry of Slobodan Rakitić, where the phenomenon of fire is expressed in two dichotomous forms: as a creative principle (of creation) and as a destructive effect of evil („Tapije u plamenu“). The common (poetic) denominator of these three distinguished poets refers to the creation, i.e. the imagination (un derstood in Bashlarov’s sense) of flame, as a poetic effort to reach the essence or root of being, embodied in the so-called Prometheus complex, as an expression of longing and passion for knowledge.
