BUILDING RESILIENCE OF FISHERY ANDCHANGINGLIVELIHOODSTATUSOFTHEFISHERMENINBANGLADESH
Abstract: Theagriculturalsectorfacesvariouschallenges,includingclimatechange,naturaldisasters,diseases,andwaterpollution.ResilienceisessentialforfishfarminginBangladeshasthesectorisvulnerabletoarangeofenvironmental,social,andeconomicstresses.Inlinewiththis,buildingresilienceiscriticalforthelong-termsustainabilityoffishfarminginBangladesh.ThisstudywasconductedtoassessthesignificanceoffishfarminginchangingthelivelihoodstatusofthefishermeninMymensinghdistrictofBangladesh.Ourarticleisbased on information collected from randomly selected sixty fishermen.Researchusedawell-structuredquestionnairefromJulytoDecember2017.Thesurveyidentifiedthatfishermenfacedvariousproblemssuchassocial,economic, and technical ones. In our study was discovered that mostly ofrespondentshadlackofcapital,andilliteracyonfishfarming.However,thereisfewinstitutionalsupports.Thestudyrevealedthatfishfarmingfirmlyhadasignificantcontributioninchanginglivelihoodstatusofthefishermeninthestudyarea.
