Сажетак: Упркос чињеници да су терористички напади на САД, 11. септембра 2001. године, означили прекретницу у борби против тероризма и усмерили међународну заједницу да предузме опсежне мере ради њиховог сузбијања, савремени исламски, верски фанатизам и тероризам је у сталном порасту. Тај феномен је ескалирао као глобална претња и у име религије постао је преовлађујући модел за политичко насиље. Деструктивна моћ исламског верског тероризма огледа се кроз бруталност терористичких аката са великим бројем невиних жртава и тешким материјалним разарањима, али и последицама перманентног страха од нових напада. Стога, европски одговори на изазове исламског верског тероризма морају бити суочени са чињеницом да је он чврсто укорењен у индивидуални и колективни идентитет, безобзиран и суров по избору циљева и извршењу акција, које су у евидентној експанзији.

Abstract: Despite the fact that the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001 marked a turning point in the fight against terrorism and directed the international community to undertake extensive measures to curb it, contemporary Islamic, religious fanaticism and terrorism are on the rise.This phenomenon escalated as a global threat and became the prevailing model for political violence in the name of religion.The destructive power of Islamic religious terrorism is reflected in the brutality of terrorist acts with a large number of innocent victims and severe material devastation, as well as the consequences of a constant fear of new attacks.Therefore, European responses to the challenges of Islamic religious terrorism must be confronted with the fact that it is firmly rooted in individual and collective identity, ruthless and cruel to the choice of objectives and the pursuit of actions that are in evident expansion.
