Abstract: This paper describes a general view of mining and impacts of mineral resources on countries economy. It presents the importance of mineral resources in the development of the country’s economy, and the requirements for their sustainable development. Requirements are explained through possible principles, instruments and responsibilities. The main fact considered in this paper is that sustainable and smart mining during transition to low-carbon emissions will be most important issue that will significantly shape the development of mining in the future.
