Summary: From the beginning of the 21st century until today, the world has suffered some of the highest rates of violence, which has burdened a large number of countries and regions. Various conflicts around the planet have generated the suffer- ing and displacement of millions of children and young people, often under catastro- phic circumstances. The poorest countries are mostly exposed to aggression and lawlessness. While they are being ravaged by internal conflicts, other neighboring countries are largely suffering the destabilizing consequences of such divisions. Indirectly, it affects the lives, dignity and well-being of millions of people. There- fore, learning to live together, with empathy for others, is becoming increasingly important in today's divided and in many ways contradictory world. Peace education is not an isolated program to prevent armed conflict and repression, but a roadmap for saving lives, freeing up limited resources for social needs, and establishing struc- tures and conditions that support the rule of law. Peace education is a preventive action and the key to creating a culture of peace. It is a line that directs us towards acquiring knowledge, constructive skills and abilities for better conflict resolution and management, and advocating for social justice in our communities.

Сажетак: Од почетка 21. века па до данас, свет је претрпео неке од нај- већих стопа насиља, које је оптеретило велики број земаља и региона. Раз- личити сукоби широм планете генерисали су патње и расељавања милиона деце и младих људи, неретко под катастрофалним околностима. Најсиромаш- није земље претежно су изложене агресији и безакоњу. Док их разарају унут- рашњи конфликти, друге земље у суседству, махом трпе дестабилизујуће пос- ледице таквих раскола. Индиректно, то се одражава на животе, достојанство и благостање милиона људи. Стога, учење да живимо заједно, са емпатијом пре- ма другима, постаје све важније у данашњем подељеном и по много чему про- тивуречном свету. Мировно образовање не представља изоловани програм за спречавање оружаних сукоба и репресије, већ је путоказ за спасавање живота, ослобађање ограничених ресурса за друштвене потребе и успостављање струк- тура и услова који подржавају владавину права. Мировно образовање је пре- вентивна акција и кључ за креирање културе мира. То је линија која нас усме- рава ка стицању знања, конструктивних вештина и способности за боље реша- вање и управљање конфликтима, те заговарању социјалне правде у својим за- једницама.
