Апстракт: У раду је анализиран утицај феномена страха на становнике САП (Социјалистичка аутономна покрајина) Косово у годинама разбуктавања косовске кризе, након демонстрација и покушаја побуне Албанаца 1981. Дубоко укорењени међунационални антагонизми, неповерење у политички систем, цензура извештавања, манипулације у изјавама политичара и ширење гласина утицали су да међу припадницима две најбројније етничке заједнице, Србима и Албанцима, дође до нарастања осећаја страха што је водило у продубљивње међуетничког јаза и радикализацију маса. Рад је написан на основу необјављених и објављених архивских извора, штампе и релевантне литературе.
Summary: The paper analyzes the impact of the phenomenon of fear on the population of the SAP (Socialist Autonomous Province) Kosovo in the years of the flare-up of the Kosovo crisis (1981-1989). Deep-rooted inter-ethnic antagonisms, distrust in the political system, censorship of reporting and the spread of rumors influenced an increase in the feelings of anxiety and fear among the members of the two most numerous ethnic communities in SAP Kosovo – the Serbs and the Albanians. Activation of self-preservation instinct was leading to increased aggression towards perceived enemies. That led to the deepening of the inter-ethnic gap and the radicalization of the masses which letter created fertile ground for the outbreak of war. The paper is written on the basis of unpublished and published archival sources, press articles and academic literature.
