Summary: Personality and prevailing activity of Saint Nikodim Tismanski has equally important significance for both history of the Serbian orthodox church as autocephalus and Timok diocese. In the second period of XIV century many followers and students of Grigorije Sinait came to the territories of Knez Lazar, which led to expansion of Sinai monk community tradition and hesychasm to the area called Moravian Serbia. At the same time, monk tradition of Mount Athos was present in this area aswell and their coexistence resulted in merging of these communities over periods of time. Among many important historical figures like Zosim Tumanski, Romil Ravanički, Roman Djuniski, Grigorije Gornjački, Nikolaj, Josif and others, Nikodim Tismanski stands out. The reason for this is his hagiography which in great detail described the first monk settlements south of Danube river and creation of their respective communities in Monasteries of Vratna and Manastirica. These two monasteries were built on NIkodim Tismanski initiative with help provided by Knez Lazar.Apart from that, he was involved in anti-unionist movement in Vidin. Participated alongside Knez Lazar in his legation with the goal of making peace between Pećka and Constantinople patriarchate. Another notable mission he successfully completed was founding monasteries Vodica and Tisman in Wallachia. Reconstruction of his role in hesychasm Christianization of the Balkans is based on direct sources – 1.) Hagiography made by bishop Rimnički Partenije: 2.) Writ related to peacemaking of churches written by successor of Danilo II: 3.) Hagiography whose author is monk Stefan from Monastery Tisman. Indirect sources are: 1.) Hagiography of elder Isaija from Hilandar: 2.) Correspondence between Patriarch of Trnovo Jeftimije, Mitropoliten of Wallachia Antim and Nikodim Grčić, Romanian edifier and Archymandrith of Tisman monastery.

Сажетак: Разматрање о Светом Никодиму Тисманском повезује две перспективе које се сустичу у једном изузетном светитељу чије дело и лик памти историја али и духовна, црквена сфера. Значајне активности на унапређењу монашког живота као једног новог приступа христијанизацији балканског становништва нарочито су фокусиране на тему успостављања монашких заједница и подизања манастира Вратна и Манастирица. У разматрању је посебно место дато контексту његовог исихастичког богословског утемељења, које се посматра у склопу „синаитске ренесансе“ у областима кнеза Лазара. Светог Никодима са благочестивим кнезом повезује и цариградско посланство са циљем измирења Пећке са Цариградском патријаршијом.
