„There must be a place between me and my everyday life“: toward a poetics of Vatroslav Mimica’s моvie Monday or Tuesday

Summary: In the paper we analyzed Vatroslav Mimica’s movie Monday or Tuesday (1966). Our analysis was based on the hypothesis that the core of the movie is dialectic of creation and destruction. This dialectic is represented in different layers of the movie: primarily in its thematic aspect, then stylistic, structural etc. We pointed out and interpreted main topic of the movie as well, protagonist’s posttraumatic, postwar stress and implications of this kind of stress on his everyday life. We strived to analyze the movie keeping in mind context of European film from that period, so we depicted some of similarities and parallels with other movies, in the first place modernistic movies, e.g. Bergman’s Persona, Antionioni’s Blow-Up, Resnais’s Hiroshima mon amour etc. Also, some segments of Mimica’s work were analyzed from the perspective of folklore and anthropology.
Апстракт: У раду анализирамо филм Понедељак или уторак (Ponedjeljak ili utorak) Ватрослава Мимице, који је снимљен 1966. године. Циљ нашег истраживања јесте да укажемо на oсновне поетичке одлике овог дела новог југословенског филма. Теоријски увиди о филму на која се oслањамо долазе од различитих аутора, попут Едгара Морена, Јурија Лотмана, Кристијана Меца и Хрвоја Турковића. Хипотеза на којој се заснива наша анализа јесте да је у основи остварења Понедељак или уторак дијалектика разарања и стварања која је у чврстој вези са (културалнoм) траумом.
