Summary: The subject of the paper is the analysis of the phenomenon of fear in the dramatic work of Dusan Kovacevic, through the following literary and artistic aspects: 1. Timelessness and ubiquity of ideological claustrophobia; 2. the problem of catharsis at the gates of fear; 3. (im)possibility of freedom; 4. mentality and family - the matter of fate; 5. Doubt, fear, paranoia, madness, disappearance and laughter - the question of man. Through representative examples of plays and characters, and based on the mentioned five thematic units, which can be interpreted as problematic issues, the goal is to prove that fear is probably the most important motive at the heart of the prominent writer’s play. Dusan Kovacevic, using his specific linguistic and stylistic means, creates the drama of a man who lives in the communist-socialist ideology of absurd. The purpose of the research is also to analyze the consequences and creations of fear based on man-individual and what this condition represents for the individual, family and state.

Апстракт: Предмет рада представља анализа феномена страха у драмском стваралаштву Душана Ковачевића, посредством следећих књижевноуметничких аспеката: 1. свевременост и свеприсутност идеолошке клаустрофобије; 2. проблем катарзе пред вратима страха; 3. (не)могућност слободе; 4. менталитет и породица – питање усуда; 5. сумња, страх, параноја, лудаштво, нестајање и смех – питање човека. Кроз репрезентативне примере драма и ликова, а на основу поменутих пет тематских целина, које се могу тумачити и као проблемска питања, циљ је доказати да је страх, вероватно, и најважнији мотив који се налази у сржи драмског опуса истакнутог писца. Душан Ковачевић својим специфичним језичко-стилским средствима твори драму човека, који живи у комунистичко-социјалистичкој идеологији апсурда. Сврха истраживања јесте и анализа последица и творевина страха са ослонцем на човеку индивидуи и шта то стање представља за појединца, породицу и државу.
