Remote sensing in ecology

Abstract: The ecosystem is a set of environmental elements that mutually interact with each other. The ecological crisis is a sign that the balance between life and its environment is broken and it needs to be repaired. The only possible answer is to preserve our environment and rehab the areas that we have degraded or destroyed. The protection of natural resources and preservation of the environment can be achieved through a multidisciplinary approach and applying information technologies. In the last few decades, the possibility of obtaining spatially oriented information using remote sensing has drastically increased. Remote sensing enables the analysis of research objects (e.g. plant cover, soil, water, air, etc.) without physical contact with the examined objects.
